Traffic Enforcement – Rolvenden Road, TenterdenWhilst on patrol on Saturday 24 October 2026 on Rolvenden Road, Tenterden, I stopped a vehicle after police checks showed markers indicating the vehicle was being used without insurance and had previously received a dangerous MOT failure. The driver stated he had made a short journey to purchase a bale of straw before returning home. Regardless of the reason or distance travelled, the vehicle was being driven unlawfully on a public road. Enquiries confirmed that the vehicle had no valid third-party insurance and no valid MOT certificate. The driver was reported for both offences and issued with a Traffic Offence Report (TOR). Due to the insurance offence, the vehicle was seized at the roadside. The DVLA will also be notified in relation to the vehicle being untaxed. The defects recorded during the MOT failure were of a serious nature and rendered the vehicle unroadworthy. The driver will now face the financial consequences of his actions. Before the vehicle can be recovered, he must obtain valid insurance and pay the associated recovery and storage fees. In addition, substantial repairs will be required before the vehicle can be presented for and pass a further MOT test. This stop demonstrates a proactive approach to removing uninsured and potentially dangerous vehicles from the road network. Vehicles in such condition present a significant risk to other road users, and robust enforcement action was necessary to protect the public and maintain road safety.
